Before you can analyze, import, or archive a bank statement, you need the PDF itself. Banks are required to provide statements, but each one tucks the download behind different menus — and the mobile app often shows fewer options than the desktop site. The steps below use the desktop websites, which expose the full statement history (typically 7 years for deposit accounts).
Chase
- Sign in at chase.com and open the account (checking, savings, or credit card).
- Click Statements & documents (or the Statements tab on credit cards).
- Pick the statement period, then click the PDF icon to download.
Chase provides up to 7 years of statements online. Once downloaded, you can convert your Chase statement to CSV or Excel with a parser tuned to the Chase layout.
Bank of America
- Sign in at bankofamerica.com and select the account.
- Open the Statements & Documents tab.
- Choose the statement by month and click Download (PDF).
Bank of America keeps 7 years of statements for most accounts. The PDF has a two-column layout on some statement types — our Bank of America converter handles it automatically.
Wells Fargo
- Sign in at wellsfargo.com and go to Statements & Disclosures.
- Select the account and the statement period.
- Click Download PDF next to the statement you want.
Wells Fargo's statement layout differs between deposit and credit card accounts. The Wells Fargo converter detects the statement type and applies the right mapping.
Citi
- Sign in at citi.com and open the account.
- Go to Statements & Documents (credit cards: View Statements).
- Select the period and download the PDF.
Citi credit card statements group transactions by cardholder on joint accounts — the Citi converter keeps every cardholder's transactions in one clean table.
Capital One
- Sign in at capitalone.com and open the account.
- Click View Statements (or Documents & Statements on some accounts).
- Choose the statement and download it as a PDF.
Capital One lists debits and credits in separate columns on some statements. The Capital One converter merges them into a single signed Amount column, which is what accounting software expects.
After the download
A PDF is perfect for archiving, but useless for analysis — you cannot sort, filter, or sum it. Convert the PDF to CSV or Excel and the statement becomes real data: import it into QuickBooks or Xero, reconcile it in a spreadsheet, or archive it alongside your books.
